October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), which commemorates the many ways people with disabilities contribute to America's workplaces as well as the economy. The theme for NDEAM 2024 is "Access to Good Jobs for All." Often, our industry's products are crucial to creating a welcoming workplace where employees with disabilities can succeed.

Automatic doors improve accessibility and ease of movement in the workplace. They reduce the physical effort of manually opening and closing doors, which is particularly helpful for employees who might have mobility challenges, limited strength, or use mobility aids like wheelchairs or walkers. They promote independence by helping employees navigate workspaces without needing assistance from others.

Even for employees who don't require obvious mobility aids, automatic doors reduce the risk of accidents or injuries that might occur when trying to push or pull heavy doors, which is crucial for employees who might be more vulnerable to falls or strains.

By streamlining physical access, automatic doors can help maintain a smooth workflow and prevent disruptions. Overall, automatic doors contribute to a more inclusive and accommodating work environment, supporting the diverse needs of all employees.

It's necessary to create accessible, welcoming spaces for employees with disabilities because they bring valuable input and perspectives that can enhance a company in many ways. Diverse perspectives lead to unique problem-solving approaches, which can drive innovation.

Companies that hire employees with disabilities can better understand and serve a diverse customer base, including individuals with similar experiences, leading to more tailored and empathetic customer service. Inclusive workplaces that support employees with disabilities often see higher levels of job satisfaction and loyalty, which can reduce turnover and related costs.

Integrating employees with disabilities can enrich a company's culture, enhance its competitive edge, and contribute to a more dynamic and innovative workplace. The automatic door industry is proud to contribute to this success.
